PRODUCT PURCHASE AGREEMENT

Inspired by the Michigan Life Science Corridor (MLSC), the State of Michigan allocated funds to be used towards research, to improve human health and welfare. As a result, the Michigan Life Science Purchasing Consortium (MLSPC or the consortium) was formed. The consortium was established in 2001 in support of Life Science Research. The MLSPC is now comprised of six teaching / research institutions and institutes; Grand Valley State University, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Van Andel Institute, Wayne State University and Western Michigan University.

The objective of the MLSPC is to leverage the purchasing spend of its members, in order to obtain more favorable pricing and terms. Agreements are negotiated for commonly used, high volume supplies, equipment and services, which impact cost savings, service and overall value to the member institutions.

The MLSPC establishes preferred supplier relationships for the procurement of laboratory supplies, equipment, chemicals, and services. Suppliers are to provide high quality product at the best value (lowest life cycle cost), with excellent service.

MLSPC members issue their own orders directly to the preferred supplier. Participation in preferred supplier agreements is voluntary for MLSPC members, and each member independently purchases and pays for its own requirements. Consideration is given toward minority, woman-owned, and other diverse businesses. We are committed to utilizing technology to the fullest in the procurement process, including electronic ordering, vendor web-sites, eProcurement, and payment processes.
