In June of 2002, Wayne State University and Pepsi Bottling Company of Detroit agreed to co-chair an MMBDC Project ONE Team.  Ms. Joan Gossman of Wayne State and Ms. Mardi Woods of Pepsi co-chaired and adopted the following as its express purpose and mission:

“The express purpose of this Project ONE Team is to mentor our Minority Partners; provide referrals and networking opportunities both within and outside of the Project One Team; and to achieve a variety of business opportunities both within and outside of the Project One Team.”

In November 2002, the Minority Partners, selected by the Corporate members, attended a kick-off meeting to establish the format and meeting schedule; as well as to confirm the mission and vision of Project ONE.

The Team has a set  schedule of meetings, through calendar year 2009, meeting the second Wednesday of each month from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Room 3700 of AAB.  The agenda is focused on presentations or overviews of the types of business each member offers and round table discussion on referrals and business opportunities.  Teams are monitored for participation and spend activity.  Team emphasis is placed on the “Report Card” required by MMBDC to ascertain the effectiveness of each of the Project ONE Teams. Each Project ONE Team is required to report to MMBDC on monthly attendance figures, number of referrals or mentoring actions, and joint venture and financial transactions.
